Minimum number of credits to complete the minor:  18

As a public relations minor at Merrimack, you’ll learn how to produce and consume communications and understand how messages influence everyday life, culture and public opinion. As a public relations minor, you will:

  • develop and analyze strategic communication campaigns
  • apply persuasion and public opinion theories and concepts to campaigns
  • write both news articles and press releases
  • prepare persuasive and effective messages for a variety of contexts and media
  • consume and critically unpack scholarly and applied forms of research related to public relations and other persuasive fields.

 

Public Relations Minor Requirements

Two courses are required and three are electives. Students need not take the courses in a particular order; however, taking COM3401 Principles of Public Relations first is recommended.
