The interdisciplinary bioethics minor provides students with the tools to draw connections between the life sciences and other areas of study, including human development, philosophy, theology, communications, sociology and religious studies. The minor offers a broad and critical perspective on healthcare practices at both the domestic and global levels. Students will develop a strong grounding in ethical theory and will be able to apply this knowledge to current moral controversies arising in medicine and healthcare, such as the just distribution of organs for transplant, and the ethical implications of reproductive technologies.

Bioethics is an ideal minor for students from both the humanities and the sciences, since it can be tailored to each student’s interests while equipping them with the skills to succeed in a range of disciplines. It is a valuable credential for students applying to medical school or graduate school in the health professions and is excellent preparation for professional ethics positions in hospitals and other healthcare organizations.
