Major Requirements


Satisfying the requirements for a major in Psychology includes successful completion of a minimum of 58 credits as described below. 

Foundational Core Courses


Complete the following three required courses (12 credits):

Associated Requirement in Biology/Health Sciences


Complete the following required course (see also the Sequences that Satisfy Requirement section below):

The Associated Requirement in Biology/Health Sciences can also be fulfilled by either of the following two-course sequences:

Laboratory in Behavioral Neuroscience


Complete the following required lab course:

At Least One Course in Cognitive Processes


Complete at least one of the following courses:

Course Related to Psychological Individuation


Choose at least one course from the following:

Course Related to Social Relations


Choose at least one course from the following:

Required Capstone


Choose one capstone option from the following:

Required Psychology Professional Development Courses


Complete the following three courses (six credits):

Required Further Explorations in Psychology


To complete the required 58 credits in Psychology, students may take a combination of other Psychology courses and/or HSC 2500 Health Behavior and Promotion , a maximum of four credits in Directed Study and/or Directed Research, and the second semester of a two-semester Senior Capstone Sequence, in consultation with your advisor.

Major GPA: The GPA for the psychology major will be calculated by taking the average of courses designated PSY.
