ENG 3320 - Jane Austen and the Eighteenth-Century Novel

This course examines the emergence of the English novel as a literary form, with special focus on the achievement of Jane Austen.  Addresses the impact of historical context, the development of narrative technique, and the ongoing relevance of Austen in popular culture today.   Includes novelists such as Daniel Defoe, Samuel Richardson, and Henry Fielding.  Before 1800. This course counts toward the English major British literature requirement.
