Mission

Our supportive learning community produces extraordinary STEM graduates.

Values

We value:

1. Community

We build relationships in the Augustinian tradition of compassion and generosity. We meet students where they are and help them to discover their full potential through engaged and collaborative classrooms, hands-on laboratories, supportive advising, and experiential opportunities.

2. Impactful Teaching

We actively involve our students in the learning process and strive to consistently improve our pedagogy. We value developing curious lifelong learners who can adapt to rapidly evolving fields.

3. Innovation and Research

We empower faculty to make substantive contributions to our fields and to engage students in our research while building their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

4. Service

We support the local and global communities by engaging K-12 learners in STEM programs and initiatives in our laboratories and classrooms, providing expertise for research with community partners, and engaging wholly in the governance and long-term health of the institution.

5. Sustainability

We strive to understand, appreciate, and actively engage in service to our planet for our own benefit and that of generations to come.

The ECS Experience

All programs in the School of Engineering and Computational Sciences require that all students must fulfill an experiential learning component. This requirement provides students with the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience outside of traditional coursework to enhance their learning and development, and is typically satisfied through the completion of a co-op or internship.
