Cyber Security

The Cyber Security program is an interdisciplinary minor involving courses from two different departments - Computer Science and Political Science, Public Policy and History. In this program, students develop an understanding of computer programming, system security, national security and public policy. 

Minor Requirements


The minor in Cyber Security requires completing a minimum of six courses. Students must take the required course POL 3541 Cyber Security: The Intersection of Technology and Policy , three computer science courses, and two electives. 

Cyber Security Minor Notes


Only two courses may be double-counted between a Cyber Security minor and any other major/minor, including Political Science, Public Policy, or Computer Science.  CSC 1610 Problem Solving with Java  has a prerequisite of MTH 1000 Concepts in Algebra  or placing out of MTH 1000 Concepts in Algebra . In addition, students must pass this course with a B- or better in order to move on to advanced Computer Science courses.
