The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership is an online 44 credit (post-master’s) degree that provides leaders in K-12 schools, higher education, non-profit organizations and education-related mental health organizations with the knowledge and tools to lead effectively in the 21st century. Students in the program may opt to complete it full-time in three years, or part time in four to six years. The program is flexible and centers on development of key leadership skills, mastery of research and assessment strategies and completion of a dissertation in practice (DiP) for real world problem solving in education, clinical and community settings.
The program’s goal is preparing educational leaders to positively impact and transform schools, communities and broader society. Additionally, this program is designed to advance the learning of leaders in schools, colleges, and community settings, and provide them with a necessary credential for advancement in their fields. The Ed.D. is a pathway to numerous professional opportunities, including superintendency (and other district- level K-12 leadership roles), the vice president of student affairs and dean of students role, community college administrative leadership roles at the dean’s level and above and as executive director of non-profit organizations that broadly support education, mental health counseling and human services.
