The AI Studies minor provides students with the skills to effectively and ethically use artificial intelligence platforms, including large language models, generative AI, and natural language processors in their careers. The technology brings clear benefits in terms of information access, increased efficiency, improved decision making, and innovation. But, there are also a number of skills needed to use it effectively and responsibly, including the ability to evaluate information quality; develop effective prompts; an understanding of context; awareness of bias and discrimination; higher-order thinking skills; data literacy; ethical implementation; and recognizing and avoiding plagiarism. The minor in Artificial Intelligence Studies provides students with these skills.
