Students who major in Public Health and Communication will be exposed to both the health sciences and the health care system as well as a social scientific and humanities-based approach to understanding human communication and the influential role the media plays in people’s well-being. Specifically, students will have the chance to learn how to promote health and well-being strategies to various publics through persuasive messaging. Students will also have the chance to focus on fundamental topics like how to understand health care policy and how to communicate those policies to lay people who find themselves in the healthcare system. So, whether a student wants to work in a human communication field like public relations (PR) for a health organization or be a content creator for a health-related company, or they want to focus on the interpersonal service-oriented side of health care, this combined major will provide sound preparation.
