The Theatre Arts minor provides a foundational understanding of all the aspects of the theatre. The Department of Visual and Performing Arts minors are designed for students to gain valuable skills, understand history, and critically engage with the content of the coursework. Additionally, no more than two courses (eight credits) from another major or minor may count towards completion of this minor.

Minor Requirements

The Theatre minor requires the completion of a minimum of five courses as specified below.

Required Theatre History Courses

Complete the following two courses:

THR 2520 - Theatre History Part One: Origins to Renaissance Credits: 4
THR 2530 - Theatre History Part Two: Restoration to the Present Credits: 4

Technical Theatre Requirement

Choose one course from the following:

THR 2570 - Technical Production for the Theatre Credits: 4
THR 2580 - Design for the Theatre Credits: 4

Required Elective

Choose two courses from the following:

THR 1510 - Acting I Credits: 4
THR 1520 - Voice for the Stage Credits: 4
