Finance, M.S.

The M.S. in Finance will prepare students to be strong professionals in a variety of financial areas, across a broad scope of organizations, ranging from large investment companies, to banks and brokerage firms, and corporations of all sizes. Students will learn how to analyze different investment options, will prepare financial models, will be exposed to different trends in the finance industry, and will learn a variety of finance concepts that will cross different financial services industries, treasury and finance departments. 

Program Requirements


There are two options for students interested in pursuing an M.S. in Finance: 

For incoming students with an undergraduate finance degree, there is a 32 credit M.S. in Finance program option. This option includes a common core of four courses (16 credits), two advanced finance elective courses (eight credits) and two open elective courses (eight credits). 

For incoming students with non-finance majors, there is a 40 credit M.S. in Finance program option. This option includes a common core of six courses (24 credits), two advanced finance elective courses (eight credits) and two open elective courses (eight credits). 

Both programs will be offered online with both synchronous and non-synchronous elements. 

32-Credit Program - For Undergraduate Finance Majors


The 32 credit M.S. in Finance has the following course requirements:

Required Core Courses


Complete the following four required core courses (16 credits):

  • Credits: 4
  • FIN XXXX - Investment and Portfolio Strategies Credits: 4
  • FIN XXXX - Quantitative Methods and Financial Modeling Credits: 4
  • FIN XXXX - Financial Statement Analysis and Interpretation Credits: 4

Finance Electives


Choose two courses (eight credits) from the following:

Open Electives


Complete two elective courses (eight credits) from graduate course offerings in the following areas:

  • Accounting
  • Business Analytics
  • Data Science
  • Marketing Management
  • Organizational Leadership
