Minor Requirements

The minor consists of five courses (20 credits): one core course and four elective courses.

Core Course

Complete the following required course:

Required Electives

Choose four elective courses from Women’s and Gender Studies (WGS) courses.

  • Only two cross-listed courses can be counted toward the minor in any single department that is not WGS. For example, a student may apply two cross-listed courses in English (or other departments) that are among those accepted as WGS cross-listed courses and/or departments.
  • It is highly recommended that Women’s and Gender Studies minors take at least one course beyond WGS 1010 Introduction to Gender, Race, and Sexuality Studies  that focuses on difference and diversity at the intersections of gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality and class (see the list of recommended courses below). Minors are also encouraged to study gender in the context of “developing” nations beyond western borders.
