Requirements
The concentration in Spanish requires completing a minimum of 30 credits, consisting of a minimum of 8 courses with at least 6 beyond SPA 1040 .
Core courses. Majors and minors with a concentration in Spanish are required to take GCS2000 (Introduction to Cultural Studies) after they take SPA 1510 or SPA 1520 and before they proceed to upper level courses. Depending on whether the course is being taught in the Spring or the Fall, majors and minors may be allowed to take an upper level course before taking GCS2000. Majors and Minors will be required to do all their work for GCS2000 in Spanish, so that it counts as a Spanish course.
Study Abroad in Deusto (Bilbao). Students pursuing a major or minor in Spanish are strongly encouraged to spend one semester at the Universidad de Deusto, in Bilbao (Basque Country). Students should talk to their adviser to prepare for the Study Abroad.
