Interreligious Relations


Minimum number of credits required to graduate:  124

Minimum number of credits to complete the minor: 20

The minor in Inter-religious Relations explores the relationship between diverse religious traditions, with a particular emphasis on the relationship between Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. It sheds light on how relationships between religions can influence culture, politics, and society around the world. Courses in this minor explore how relations between religious traditions can lead to conflict and violence, and also how they can bring communities together to work toward reconciliation and peace. This minor enriches all other courses of study at Merrimack College and provides valuable tools in any career.

The Inter-religious Relations minor consists of 20 credits. There are two required courses, and three electives.

There are two required components

  • RTS 1010 World Religions 

       OR

  • RTS 1050 Quest for Meaning

       OR

       RTS 1650 Passages: Rituals and Sacred Texts of teh Abrahamic Religions

  • RTS 3760 - Jewish-Christian-Muslim Relations

The remaining three courses are electives drawn from a broad range of relevant studies. Some of the electives are outside of the Religious & Theological Studies Department.
