Learn more about the program
A degree in civil engineering prepares students to take an active role in shaping the future of our highly technical society. The critical and logical thinking behind civil engineering is a great basis for a multitude of career paths, from consulting and construction, to policy and management, to graduate studies. Through a combination of theoretical coursework, hands-on laboratory experiences, and practical projects, students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to design, construct, and maintain the systems on which our civilization relies. Students complete design courses in transportation and development, environmental and water resources, structural analysis and design, and/or geotechnical and foundation engineering, culminating in a senior design project that integrates the concepts learned throughout the program.
Our graduates are in demand because they are versatile engineers, with technical and professional skills, capable of addressing the technical and social challenges and opportunities in the field of civil engineering.
