                  CHM 4635 - BiochemistryCredits: 4 The biochemistry course covers the fundamentals of biochemistry. Topics covered in the course include: the structure and function of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, enzymes, and nucleic acids. The course will also cover enzyme kinetics, catalytic strategies, and regulatory mechanisms. The class will also examine metabolic pathways, such as glycolysis, TCA, electron-transport system. The laboratory portion will include current biochemical laboratory techniques, such as transformations, protein purification, and electrophoresis, mass spectrometry, and analysis of data from laboratory experiments. The course consists of four hours of lecture and a three-hour laboratory component (CHM4635L) per week. Prerequisite(s): CHM 2210
