Credits: 2
This course will focus on preparing students for science writing and presentation.  An emphasis will be placed on critically reading primary and secondary literature sources.  Students will use reference management software to catalog articles, properly annotate citations, and make bibliographies. Additionally, students will explore technical writing skills and begin the process of writing about their own research projects. Methods for visualizing their lab data and results in their research summaries will also be explored. Each student will give several presentations throughout the semester on their research work to the class. This will be accompanied by written updates using the methods taught in class.  Students will also learn how to use chemical databases such as SciFinder-n. This class meets once per week.
