CRI 1000 - Critical Inquiry Seminar I

Credits: 4
Can reading books make you a better person? The answer is yes - as long as one has access to the requisite tools for doing so. In this course we ask, “What does it mean to cultivate one’s self?” Throughout the course, students study and acquire the skills and understandings needed in order to cultivate their academic voice over the course of their college years and beyond. These skills involve the development of a growth mindset in approaching learning, the acquisition of skills for analytic reading, reflective writing, discussion and collaboration, and the capacity to adopt informed positions about what one reads, hears, discusses and does. Readings will include scholarly literature related to these topics.
