ART 2685 - Reconstructing the MastersCredits: 4 This photo studio/art history hybrid course provides a unique study of notable artistic masters, both classical and contemporary, through the act of photographically recreating their masterpieces. Each week, students will dissect the works of renowned/influential artists throughout history, discussing what makes their work so provocative, distinctive, as well as the techniques used in their creations. Students will then gain a distinctly personal understanding of the artworks through detail-oriented photographic reconstruction.
Special attention will be paid to the craft of recreating these works through photography. Through weekly demonstrations on lighting, digital photo editing, and composition, as well as professor-guided critiques and discussions, students will gain the tools and understanding to skillfully recreate the subjects at hand.
