CMA 1010 - Introduction to Construction Management

Credits: 4
This course provides students with an understanding of the fundamental principles and current practices of construction management, including project initiation and planning, scheduling, cost estimating, contracts, and project delivery method (mainly design-bid-build). Throughout the course, students learn about the construction industry and role of construction managers in successful delivery of construction projects from quality, safety, financial, environmental, legal, and ethical perspectives. The course is delivered through a combination of lectures, discussions, case studies, and hands-on exercises. Students have the opportunity to work in teams and apply their gained knowledge for planning and building a structure as part of the course requirements.
