NUR 4500 - Capstone Synthesis

Credits: 4
This course synthesizes theories and concepts of professional nursing  practice with a focus on preparing students for successful entry into nursing practice. The topics of  critical thinking, clinical reasoning, delegation and prioritization are built upon from previous  learning experiences. Students are introduced to the processes of applying to take the NCLEX exam and of obtaining licensure in their chosen state. Case studies and other pedagogies are used to  apply and synthesize previous course content to help the student prepare to take the NCLEX-RN  exam. A number of comprehensive exams are administered throughout the semester to assist the  student to identify individual learning needs and to develop remediation plans aimed toward  success on the NCLEX exam. This course builds on previous learning experiences and will prepare  the student for safe, competent and professional nursing practice.
