MUS 1355 - Chamber Music Ensembles

Credits: 2
By definition, a chamber music ensemble is a small group of instrumentalists (usually 2 to 10 performers) who when combined together, have the ability to perform chamber music. This course is designed for students to explore performing in unique combinations of smaller instrumentations. The course will be centered around the practice and performance of chamber music, which will form a number of smaller groups ranging from brass quintets to string quartets to voice groups to non-traditional instrumental ensembles. Each chamber ensemble will be assembled at the discretion of professors based on needs and ability. The specific content varies each time the course is offered and is tailored to the interest, needs, and abilities of the students. Students will be exposed to a wide variety of literature ranging from traditional classical works to compositions by living composers.
Note: Students may register for any combination of ensembles up to a total of 8 credits.
