BIO 3076 - Ecological ModelingCredits: 4 This course will provide an examination of the theoretical and applied aspects of ecology at the organism, population, and community levels. Through lectures, discussions, and reading of foundational primary literature, students will acquire a conceptual and theoretical understanding of key ecological concepts, including: population dynamics; competition, trophic relationships, and coevolutionary interactions; community structure and organization; succession; biogeography. The relevance of theory and concepts to solving environmental problems will be explored. Laboratory exercises explore principles of ecological sampling techniques and data analysis. A research assignment helps to enhance writing and presentation skills. Prerequisite(s): BIO 2010
