HDE 4260 - Foundations of Counseling Across Professions

This course will provide an introduction to theory and practice of counseling in the helping professions. Students will focus on development of communication skills and interviewing techniques. Additionally, students will explore aspects of counseling in a variety of professions, establish a basic understanding of the counseling process and engage in group and small instructional practices for social/emotional, career, and academic support. NOTE: this course involves interactive counseling exercises and discussion around mental health issues.
Note: HDHS/C/K majors; EDU or HDHS minors; Junior or senior status or permission of the instructor
