DES 1230 - Elements of 2D Design

Introduction to the vocabulary and grammar of visual composition. The basic design elements of line, shape, color, texture, pattern, space, balance, rhythm, and emphasis, along with time-based media are explored through project assignments. Concept, content, composition, and craft are examined as interlocking components. Classes include short lectures, discussion of reading assignments, software demonstrations, and in-class studio work. Students are expected to work outside of class to finish projects. Students will be required to secure class materials, contact instructor.
