CEN 4040 - Geometric Design of Highways

This course is designed for students without prior background knowledge in geometric design of a roadway infrastructure. The objective of the course is to introduce students to design principles and standards that control geometric and safety aspects of roadway and roadside design. Topics include roadway and roadside features, design of horizontal and vertical alignment, pedestrian & driver characteristics, intersection design and control, surface and subsurface roadway drainage, and safety in highway engineering.
Prerequisite(s): C- in CEN 3030.
