CHM 1220 - Fundamentals of Organic and Biochemistry

Credits: 4
In this course, fundamental principles of organic chemistry will be covered and their relationship to health-related professions will be discussed. This course will cover the structure, nomenclature, properties, and reactions of the compounds of carbon. Topics at the interface between organic chemistry and biological chemistry, such as amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids will also be covered. This course is not intended for students interested in pursuing a career as a physician’s assistant or nurse practitioner or for those interested in medical, dental or veterinary school.
Prerequisite(s): CHM 1110  
Fulfills: STEM in LS Core.
When Offered: Every spring semester.
Four hours per week.
