MGT 5230 - Applied Statistics for Business Insight

Innovations in information technology have resulted in data-intensive business environments. This course provides a foundation in statistical analyses and discusses the importance of business intelligence and how it will be used to support better decision making. The course provides students with an in-depth understanding of statistical concepts for deriving insights from raw data. Students will focus on the conceptual understanding of and construction of models as applied to business problems. Use of various computer software programs will enable students to perform required calculations, make inferences from data, and present results and recommendations, ultimately using data to effectively aid in business decision making. Course topics include descriptive statistics, sampling distributions, statistical inferences, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis.
