PSY 2540 - Health Psychology

Credits: 4
The purpose of the course is to provide students with an introduction to health psychology, as well as the neighboring field of behavioral medicine, while covering topics that allow students to explore the clinical and social world of health. This course is designed to teach students with wide-ranging interests across various disciplines, including those interested in psychology, medical fields, occupational and physical therapy, and public health. This course is not intended to provide in-depth information on biological bases of health or behavior. Rather, our focus will be on understanding the intersections among psychology, medicine, and health. Throughout the course, we will strive to better understand the disparities that underlie health across all topics of interest, from access to care to intervention to social and cultural determinants of health.
