CHM 4430 - Introduction to Chemometrics

In this course, students will focus on extracting information from chemical systems and experimental data using mathematical methods. Focus will be placed on working with datasets in MATLAB and Excel. Experimental data from experiments using fluorescence, chromatography, mass spectrometry, and infrared spectrosopy, will be used. Students will also learn how to create models for their datasets, determine outlier experimental data, and validate their models for a number of methods. This course will also put an emphasis on reading peer-reviewed literature articles and presenting/discussing the content of these papers in class. Open to biochemistry or chemistry majors with junior or senior standing.
