Credits: 4
This course explores how racial identity and racial groups have been shaped by laws and legal decisions in the United States. The course offers an overview of political dynamics and experiences of racial and ethnic minority groups (specifically African Americans, Latinos, Asian Americans, and American Indians) and how the groups have been treated differently under the law over American history. The course focuses on the role of federal law and Supreme Court legal decisions, but may also address state, local, and tribal law as well.
