SOC 3800 - Sociology of Gender

Credits: 4

This course introduces students to the sociological study of gender. Using a social constructionist and intersectional feminist framework, we will explore gender identities, expressions, and representations. We will think critically about how we experience gender and the ways in which our experiences are informed by larger social structures, institutions, and power relations. Lastly, we will transform theory into practice and ask ourselves how we might unsettle and disrupt conventional assumptions about gender.

Fulfills: SOSC in LS Core.
