HED 6140 - Diversity and Social Justice in Higher Education

This required course uses a social justice framework to explore issues of power and privilege with respect to diverse populations in higher education. Historical and contemporary oppression based on race, gender, ability, and other differences are explored. Self-reflection is used to examine and shift students’ own biases and prejudices. This course offers future leaders in higher education the opportunity to learn about ways to dismantle higher education’s lasting inequities, as well as strategies and practices to effect personal and institutional change.
