HED 5620G - Intro to Higher Ed Student AffairsCredits: 4 Formerly: HED562G This course is an introduction to the professional field of student affairs in higher education. It emphasizes the roles that student affairs professionals serve to promote the intellectual, social, moral, ethical, spiritual, emotional, and physical development and well-being of students. Student affairs educators carry out their professional obligations by actively seeking collaborative relationships with each other across units, with students, faculty, and others on and off the campus in order to design, support, maintain, and/or change campus environments to optimally support student learning, wellness, and development. At the same time, dramatic developments in higher education, from an affordability crisis, Title IX, and ADA compliance are among some of the challenges facing higher education.
