Credits: 4An advanced course on the constitutive behavior of active materials including piezoelectric ceramics, magnetostrictive materials, and shape memory alloys. Governing equations for the thermodynamics of electromechanical interactions, constitutive relations, and strain displacement relations will be developed. Students will propose and complete a research project that extends the course material.
