POL 3161 - Politics of Immigration and Human MovementCredits: 4 This course studies the movement of human populations through the lens of Political Science. Political Science is focused on the allocation and use of power and distribution of resources. Human population movements are clearly affected by the use of this power and access to resources. This course is structured to study those population flows, the “pushes” and “pulls” of migration, the effects of human migration on both the home and the host countries, and the academic theories that seek to explain policies on human migration and its effects (economic, cultural, political, religious, etc.), particularly in the United States. Fulfills: SOSC and D requirement in LS Core.
