PHL 3160 - History of Modern PhilosophyCredits: 4 The course traces the empiricist and rationalist foundations of modern philosophy, as well as its relations to developments in those fields which have come to be known as natural sciences and social sciences, by close readings of the texts of Bacon, Descartes, Hobbes, Spinoza, Leibniz, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, and Kant. Area Requirement for Philosophy: History, Knowledge, Reality Prerequisite(s): PHL 1000 or PHL 1100 or PHL 1200 and another course in Philosophy or the permission of the professor.
