POL 1400 - Politics of Public Policy

Credits: 4
The course content is a detailed examination  of the theory and practice of public policy making in the United States.  The goal of the class is to introduce students to a systematic approach for understanding the origins, formulation, implementation and impacts of government  “output”.  Following a review of key analytic concepts and theoretical perspectives, the political dimensions of public policy making - as well as the technical aspects of program design and evaluation- will be considered within the general framework of the “natural history” of the policing making process.
