CSC 5055 - Network Security ICredits: 4 Formerly: Computer and Network Security, CSC4055 This course is an introduction to network security and how to think about security. The first half of the course will be devoted to the basic building blocks of network security, including: symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, cryptographic hashing, authentication, digital signatures, access control, intrusion detection, and malicious software. The focus of the second half of the course will be on understanding commonly used network security protocols: SSL, IPSec, Kerberos, WPA, and WPA2. This is a required course for all IT Majors, an elective for all others. Prerequisites: CSC 2620 with a minimum passing grade of C or consent of the instructor, and MTH 1314.
