CSC 3875 - System Administration and Privacy

Credits: 4


This hands-on course places the student into the role of a system administrator of a Linux server. Topics include an introduction to the Linux operating system from a user and superuser perspective, shell scripting, basic networking, firewalls, and system diagnostics. Students will learn to deploy and manage RAID Arrays, NFS servers, and LAMP servers. Other server types will be discussed as time permits. This course will additionally, through readings and classroom discussion, consider the privacy and ethical issues facing system administrators. Prerequisite: CSC 1610 with a minimum passing grade of C or permission of the instructor.
