POL 3113 - The American PresidencyCredits: 4 This course will examine the constraints which limit presidents, the opportunities that presidents can seize, and the virtues which maximize their prospects for success. The objective of this course is to broaden your understanding of how this uniquely personalized institution developed, its constitutional authority, its relationship with other branches of government and how one gets selected for this office. Finally we will assess its current strengths and weaknesses and discuss the perception and reality of presidential power and leadership. Fulfills: Social Science distribution requirement. SOSC requirement in LS Core.
