NUR 2500 - Mental Health NursingCredits: 4 This course provides an overview of the nursing care of persons with psychiatric-mental health conditions, including major DSM diagnoses. The course will focus on learning the pharmacotherapeutics and nursing skills to care for patients with psychiatric illness as well as those patients with mental health issues that arise in a variety of nursing and medical care settings. Students will apply knowledge about the nurse-patient relationship, patterns of therapeutic interactions, and develop effective communication skills and psychotherapeutic approaches and interventions with patients.
