HIS 3366 - History of Modern Middle EastCredits: 4 This course explores the origins of the Modern Middle East. It begins by examining the role of the Ottoman Empire and its legacy on the region, before analyzing the formation of today’s nation-states, including Egypt, Lebanon, and Turkey. Other topics will include the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Iraq War, and the diverse role of Islam in society. Fulfills: H in LS Core Note: This course is usually not appropriate for freshmen.
